Material girl's girl loves Westlife boys; Madge gets
band's signed album for No1 fan Lourdes
The Mirror (London, England); 9/27/2005 EXCLUSIVE by PAUL MARTIN
POP queen Madonna surprised Westlife when she called for a copy of their new
album for her daughter Lourdes. The Material Girl, 47, rang Westlife boss
Louis Walsh and asked for a sneak preview of their Face To Face record, telling
him: "Lourdes is crazy about the boys - she plays their songs all the time."
Madonna, who lives in London with husband Guy Ritchie, said that nine-year-old
Lourdes has posters of the Irish group in her bedroom and will even be at one of
their gigs next year.
A showbiz source revealed: "Louis was stunned when he got the phone call from
Madonna. They met at an event a few months ago and she said she recognised him from the
X Factor show. They got chatting and swapped numbers but Louis didn't think he
would hear from her again. Then he got a call and she said, 'I didn't even
realise you were Westlife's manager - my daughter loves their music'."
Last night Louis said: "She said that her daughter was a big fan of the boys and
she's going to bring them to a show in London. Of course, we made sure that
Madonna got a copy of the album and all the lads have signed it for her." A
source close to Madge said: "She will take Lourdes along to meet the Westlife
boys and get a few things signed. Lourdes loves Flying Without Wings and
Unbreakable - Shane is her favourite, she has a big crush on him." But Madonna
has no plans to record a single with the band.

Doherty 'pathetic' says Kian.
The Mirror (London, England); 9/26/2005
WESTLIFE singer Kian Egan blasted junkie Pete Doherty yesterday and claimed:
"He's not even in our league." The Sligo-born pop star, 25, described Kate
Moss's 26-year-old lover Doherty as "pathetic" and "the dregs of humanity".
And, in case rocker Doherty had any dreams of working with the Irish boyband, he
can forget it. According to Kian, Babyshambles singer Doherty - hailed by some
music critics as one of Britain's best songwriters - is not up to scratch. Kian
said: "We only do collaborations with people of a certain level and Pete is not
in our league.
"I mean, who is he? Nobody seems to know what he does. He's a pathetic
twat who walks around with a cigarette in his mouth.
He's a joke. Kids are looking up to somebody who is a junkie. What sort of an example is he
setting his fans?"

Ellie-Jane is tickled pink
Brave Ellie-Jane who was almost killed when she was hit on the
head with a golf ball was tickled pink when she met chart toppers Westlife. The
youngster was given VIP treatment after Kevin Kappes – manager of the
forthcoming Asda store in Biggleswade – arranged for her and her family to
attend the Tickled Pink fund raising concert.
The concert, which is held in aid of breast cancer, took place at the Royal
Albert Hall in London and featured on all-star line-up including Westlife, Il
Divo, Sheryl Crow and Sugababes. And TV star Denise Van Outen hosted the show.
Dad Stephen Day, of Cambridge Way, Langford said: "We had a trip of a lifetime.
It was absolutely superb, it was mind-blowing. It was just nice for the family
to take the pressure away and just chill out as a family."
And Ellie-Jane was able to return to Langford Lower School for a couple of hours
on Tuesday, and is now able to walk unaided.

Clyde1 fans hot 4 Westlife
Westlife arrived at Clyde 1 to chat about their new album 'Face to Face'. Hordes of Clyde 1 listeners descended on Clyde 1 HQ to get a glimpse of the boys as they arrived and some dedicated disciples had been waiting since 5.30am that morning!
The guys described their single as a powerful anthem in the same vain as 'Flying Without Wings' with a real gospel feel. 'You Raise Me Up' was originally performed by Brian Kennedy and they said that they were very proud of how it had turned out. They were particularly excited about their collaboration with the ultimate Diva, Diana Ross on the album which their manager Louis Walsh arranged for them. You can check it out for yourself on 24 October when 'Face to Face' hits the shelves.

WESTLIFE have asked Michael Jackson to make his pop career by doing a duet with them. Hard to believe I know ........ but true. The lads, pictured right as they might look with jacko, courtesy of my computer wizards, are desperate to record a track with the fallen pop star next year.
Their Manager, X factor LOUIS WALSH tells me: Michael Jackson is an
inspiration and we are approaching him.
"The boys have sung with DIANA ROSS on their new album and have sung with MARIAH
CAREY . So we thought who next? Jackson would be great. Louis says SHANE
FILAN from the band was especially keen and the lads are not worried about the
recent court battle. He says: The boys think he's great and he is inspired
Shane when he was a kid-he wanted to be Michael Jackson. It's the music that

Mummies Boys
Westlife are relying on traditional Celtic instruments to get them a
Christmas No.1 album
The Irish quartet are plunging back into pop with new album Face to Face.
I can hear housewives dropping their tea towels in delight.
SonyBMG are using bagpipes and over £1 million to make sure the CD tops the
charts when it's released next month.
They've made the bold move of using the droning Celtic wind insrument on
comeback single You Raise Me up.
I'm told; "Its a massive Westlife ballad with sweeping strings, a gospel choir
and also bagpipes.
"Theres a real Celtic edge to it. they know their market and it's Westlife doing what they do best. There's a lot of pressure on everyone involved to get a No.1 album for the festive period. It'll mean extra chunky Christmas bonuses if it happens."
I predict the video will see the lads sitting on chairs with strained faces singing to the camera - possibly wearing suits. The ballad - heavy album will include a number of covers including duet Tell Me That You Love Me with Diana Ross, 61, and The Eagles track Desperado. You Raise Me up is the first single the Loif have released in two years, which is really unfair on the UK's dinner ladies and homemakers. My mum will be pleased.

Westlife get mobbed in London 13-09-05 news EXCLUSIVE
WITH PHOTOS
Anyone ready to write-off Irish boyband Westlife as too rich, too old or not too
bothered to keep their legions of fans interested and buying their records
should think again - the boys are back.
Ever since Brian McFadden left Westlife speculation has been rife in the media
on the inevitable break-up of the remaining members - but by the looks of things
Nicky, Shane, Kian and Mark are going to be clocking up Number Ones for another
few years yet. ShowBiz Ireland caught up with the boys recently as they slowly
made their way through London's Standsted Airport and the hoards of screaming
teenage fans with police, bodyguards and security staff trying their best to get
the Irish lads to their destination.
If there is any doubt that Westlife fans are dwindling in
numbers just look at these photos - just being amongst the thousands of
screaming girls gave our photographer a taste of what Beetlemania must have been
like in the 60s!And even though Mark has come-out as gay and reportedly going to
marry boyfriend Kevin McDaid and Shane has just had a baby with wife Gillian the
boys look hungry again to take back the pop charts with a new album and upcoming
duet with Diana Ross. Plus Kian Egan's new surfer look is bound to keep their
female fans' hearts pounding for another few years to come!

700k EACH; Westlife offered massive pay deal for the next tour'
POP superstars Westlife have been offered a top pay deal for their
comeback tour early next year.
The band have been lured back on the stage with the promise of a pounds 700,000
pay day for each member. Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily
are set to top the charts with their first pop album in nearly two years.
They will then embark on a 60-date European tour performing at venues including
The Point, Odyssey Arena in Belfast and the new Wembley. A source close to the
band said: "The big money has been offered for the next tour because the record
industry believes Westlife can be bigger than ever.
"They've been away for a while but there's no other pop band around to rival
them. They've been offered big money but promoters will get their money back with
huge ticket sales."
The singers have been locked in the recording studios for the last six months
and have recorded a Christmas duet with Diana Ross which is already favourite
for the festive No1.
They will release Irish song-writer Brendan Graham's US hit You Lift Me Up for
their first single in two years.
The single release next month will be accompanied by a huge publicity blitz
around Ireland and the UK.
They will appear on over 50 TV and radio programmes and perform a number of
special shows in record stores around the country.
Shane Filan said: "Within a few weeks everyone will know that Westlife are back
- big time.
"We have never been so hungry for success. It's like we are starting out from
the beginning all over again. We can't wait to get out there and start performing. It's a very exciting time. We want No1 hits from this album and we've got some
great songs."
Westlife have notched up a string of No1s over the past five years with hits
such as Uptown Girl and Queen of My Heart.
Kian Egan added: "People didn't expect us to still be around by now but we've
got a couple more years in us at least.
As long as we are all getting on then there's no reason we can't keep this
going."

News about Pepsi Max
After a brief foray of the bank holiday weekend, well Sunday, we are back on
location in sunny Somerset. Yes, Yes, yes the home of Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge
and for this week only the mighty Westlife. This week Westlife fanatic Chloe
Gamblin has downloaded the Irish wunderkinds to come and perform at a location
of her choice in her hometown! When I say fanatic this girl is on the money. She
has travelled the UK and Ireland to see the lads perform, but now its payback
time: lads you are coming to her!! So we travelled down from HQ on Monday
morning and checked into our base for the week. Apparently Austin head of
security is happy with reception once more at the hotel so that was a good
start.
Yesterday afternoon we went to the location and I know I say it every time but
this week its something else. It's a rural setting and is spot on. Think back to
basics, sheep, cows and shepherd dogs yes this week Westlife are ooo-arrr on the
farm! Chloe came along to the location with a few mates and her Mother
yesterday, oh yes by the way we know you are just as big a fan Mum! Like all of
the winners on this show, Chloe was flabbergasted when the crew and myself
bowled up and she's dead excited about the next week.
After getting the formalities out of the way, today was the day we really sprung
into action and Chloe relished it. We did the updates for channel 4 and
introduced her to Stage manager Andrew Chaplin. Andrew gave a synopsis of what
he was going to do to the farm and started making a few props. The actual stage
is going to be in a barn, which still has sheep in it. We had a go trying to
round them up this afternoon, Austin was a natural, oh and I wasn't bad either
despite being a bit sheepish to start with!
Later on the head honchos came down for the technical recces. Here we discussed
logistics and Andrew put his ideas of staging forward to the director, health
and safety and lighting crews. All was a success and the last show of the Pepsi
Max Downloaded with Westlife is set to be the best show yet.

at the Royal Albert Hall on 18th September, which will also be broadcast on 25th
September (details to follow). It sees them on an all-star bill that also

The event helps to raise funds for Breast Cancer Care and the Breast Cancer
Campaign. Comedy also features heavily in the show: Phil McIntyre, best known
for producing shows like Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights, dinnerladies and the West
End smash hit We Will Rock You, is managing a line-up of the UK's best
comedians. Meanwhile, other guests include Heart FM's Jamie Theakston and
Harriet Scott.
This year the ASDA Tickled Pink Campaign extends its support to the Breast
Cancer Campaign. The campaign is now in its ninth successful year, independently
raising over 8 million for Breast Cancer Care since 1996. ASDA supports this
live event as a fundraising initiative and to raise awareness of breast cancer
as part of a wider national campaign. All proceeds from the event will be

However, the gay couple were not among friends and family who
