Byrne gets 'wild' for his birthday
WESTLIFE singer NICKY BYRNE had a dream come true when his wife
adopted a tiger for his birthday. The FLYING WITHOUT WINGS star has always adored
the wild creatures and couldn't have asked for a more special gift for his 27th
birthday.
He says, "GEORGINA spoiled me. She adopted a tiger as they're my favourite
animal. I'll probably never meet him but you pay money to a charity and they
send you updates on how he's doing. I haven't named him yet."

WESTLIFE will score their biggest ever hit this weekend with a No1 in the UK
and Ireland.
They have sold more copies of their comeback single You Raise Me Up, than the
last Band Aid single sold in its first week.
Last night manager Louis Walsh said: "This is massive for the band. People who
wrote us off will have to think again.
"Westlife records are like hurricanes in Florida - they start off infrequently
then they all come in a huge barrage at once. The single is going to be No1 in the UK and Ireland and the lads are
thrilled."
Woolworths have had to order in an extra 100,000 copies to cope with the
demand from fans in the UK as they look set to secure their 13th No1.
Singer Shane Filan, 26, said: "We are crossing our fingers that it will be No1
but we have to wait and see. What we have heard has been very encouraging."

Westlife - 'You Raise Me Up'
And so the Westlife wagon comes full circle, with a big, wobbly-throated,
stool-powered ballad. And let's face it, if it keeps them from the likes of
'Uptown Girl' and 'Bop Bop Baby' then maybe it's for the best. This is no cover
of 'Mandy', but it does an acceptable job of starting out all meek and
sorrowful, and quickly growing into a big-hearted, choir-pummelling,
orchestra-bopping sopfest. Although, next time, could you lose the folksy string
dirge, fellas? You missed the Braveheart soundtrack by a country mile.

Single review
For their first single in two years, Dublin's favourite boy band festoon their
big-hearted balladeer boat with all the baubles they can muster. Bagpipes lend
rustic charm, the simpering sincerity of the vocal is swept up by a massed choir
of harmonies and the whole thing heads towards the heavens on a bed of strings.

Williams makes strong start in albums chart
Robbie Williams' new studio album has got off to its expected strong start,
selling more than 130,000 copies on its day of release yesterday, according to
early chart reports. Intensive Care (Chrysalis), his sixth studio effort,
sold more than the rest of the Top 20 combined, and in excess of 50,000 more
than last week's chart-topper - The Prodigy's Their Law - achieved all week.
Despite the huge opening tally, Intensive Care still has a battle on its hands
to claim the year's biggest one-week total of 464,000, set by Coldplay's X&Y in
June. In the singles market, Westlife - no strangers to the chart summit - look
set to comfortably enter at number one with new single You Raise Me Up (S). It
will be the Irish act's 13th chart-topper, one away from Cliff Richard's
third-highest total of all time.
King Of The Mountain, Kate Bush's first single for 11 years, is looking likely
to become her biggest hit single since 1985's number three hit Running Up That
Hill, while new efforts from Backstreet Boys (Jive) and Hilary Duff (Angel) are
also vying for a Top 10 debut, closely followed by a host of independent singles
from Maximo Park (Warp), The Magic Numbers (Heavenly) and The Rifles (Right
Hook).
1 - Westlife (27k for Monday!! )

Choirboys and Westlife in Christmas battle
Westlife and The Choirboys are set to battle it out for the top spot in the
charts this Christmas.Bookmakers William Hill are backing boyband Westlife's
duet with Diana Ross, When You Tell Me That You Love Me for the Number One spot,
but say they will face stiff competition from the choral trio.
The new contenders have been dubbed the world's first choir boyband and hope to
grab the coveted Christmas Number One with their cover of Eric Clapton's Tears
in Heaven. The Choirboys were discovered in a nationwide search of 50 churches
and cathedrals in the UK and are described as a mini version of the Three
Tenors.
Under the guidance of their co-manager, former Welsh choirboy Aled Jones, the
three boys landed a ¢G500,000 deal with music giant Universal Classics.Their
debut album includes both choral music and interpretations of famous rock songs.
The Christmas Number One can often be fairly predictable but experts say the
rise in the download market has made it less obvious this year. Downloaders are
less likely than CD buyers to react to marketing surrounding a new release.

And from what we witnessed from the Pat Kenny interview at the weekend the boys

doubt that they will break all records for the most No.1 records in

Westlife will join Diana at 'Drome
ONE of the world's most popular boy bands, Westlife, will be performing as special guests of Diana Ross at her exclusive live concert at the Bellville Velodrome on November 11. The concert is one of many events happening in South Africa during the Altech South Africa Grand Prix Week, taking place in aid of some of the country's worthiest charities, including the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund, Unite Against Hunger and Rotary International.
Westlife will be performing songs from their new album, Face to Face, which
will be released in South Africa on November 1.
The album is a collection of classic songs and future standards. Face To Face
is Westlife's first collection of new songs since Turnaround topped the charts
in 2003.
A familiar blend of big ballads and mid-tempo tunes, balanced by the
occasional up-tempo song, the album presents Westlife playing to their
strengths - passionate vocals and memorable tunes.
It is Ross's second visit to South Africa. She is the most prolific American
female singer in British chart history, having sung lead vocals on at least
one hit for 33 consecutive years. She has had more albums on the British chart
including 17 that reached the Top 10 than any other American female artist.
Tickets for the concert cost from R150 and are available from Computicket.

Sell me your home and everything in it
Japanese tycoon bids @12m for
Westlife Shane's belongings as a birthday present for his daughter.
A JAPANESE billionaire has offered Westlife star Shane Filan E12million for his
Irish mansion - as long as he leaves all his belongings too.
The software tycoon wants to buy the house for his Westlife-mad daughter as an
18th birthday present.
He shocked the 26-year-old pope star by offering TWICE the value of the
spectacular Co Sligo home and insisting that all his clothes, gold discs and
even his 1960 SL Mercedes convertible are left there.
Shane - who built the mansion where he lives with wife Gillian and two-month-old
daughter Nicole - revealed last night: "I don't want to go into it too much but
yes, the guy offered big money.
"I couldn't believe it to be honest and thought it was a wind-up at first. I
have no intentions of selling the place, it's mine and Gillian's dream home."
The tycoon is believed to have sent a letter to Shane three months ago with the
huge cash offer.
Shane didn't reply but his Dublin-based solicitor received a formal offer last
week stating: "I will pay whatever is necessary. I believe EUR12million is a
fair price. But all Shane's possessions must remain in the home. My daughter is a big fan and this would be her dream present. I hope he will
give this offer some serious consideration."
Sligo-based property developers value Shane's mansion, on the outskirts of the
town, at around EUR6million.
The deal would have meant Shane giving up all his Westlife memorabilia, his
snooker table and even his stage outfits from tours.
A source close to the singer said: "Shane and his Gillian were absolutely amazed
that this guy wanted to buy their home. The man is really serious and his
daughter was going to move into it and go to college in Ireland.
"The tycoon said he would come to Sligo and hand the cheque over in person so
his daughter could meet Shane. He made his millions during the Japanese software boom in the late-80s and
money is obviously no obstacle.
"Westlife are huge in Japan and it seems his daughter used to follow them around
when they toured there. But Shane and Gillian has just had a baby and tempting as the money may be it
would be so disruptive to move at this stage."
