LIVERPOOL REPORT
Roving Reporter- BEX
Ok so they may have made me a dame but that doesn’t mean my reporting duties have been reduced so after a hard days work this girl decided to jump in her car, speed up the motorway & descend on Dame Hilda’s hospitality for the night.
That sounds so simple doesn’t it – four hours of driving – one stop cause old age bladders don’t go the distance & miles of getting lost I finally arrive on our Hilda’s doorstep. After a quick freshen up and change we head off with two little Westettes in the back of my car to Liverpool Docks.
Well Edinburgh had a castle, Exeter had a castle – what did we get – a TENT!!!!! To be honest I thought everyone was joking when they said a tent but believe me there was no disguising the canvas.
Any way we waltzed in with our VIP tickets – just incase you don’t get that bit we were in the VIP area – you know the £150 tickets, lol. Mind you when we took our seats there were not many people in our area as they were stuck in the VIP bar. Obviously with two small children & me needing to drive we gave the VIP beer tent a miss (ok so our tickets didn’t actually enable us to go in there as we had bought them at a later date but we were still VIP and we didn’t want a drink anyway)
The first support act were not that bad and I suppose the girl that followed was ok as well, unfortunately she must have thought she had won an oscar because she thanked everyone from her birth to the present day & believe me she didn’t miss a day out!!!!
When she finally left the stage it was announced there would be a break – well whats two desperate smoking dames to do – we grabbed a child each and headed for the exit but not before we had noticed the lovely Dave and had screamed at him as if he was a member of Westlife (sorry for that Dave but we missed ya mate)
Any way after refilling our lungs we got back to our seats and waited for the arrival of the gorgeous irish four. Ok so the stage was different and no they didn’t play The Boys Are Back In Town but soon enough they were there in front of us. It was great to watch the faces of the two Westettes we had with us because they had travelled with Hilda a long way to see the show and it was obvious that they were loving it.
Well all of you know that Mark is probably the only one in the group that does it for me so guess who was over our side all night long – yes Shane & Kian and believe me they were close. So close in fact that I had my camera set to zoom in so I didn’t get many shots because I didn’t think people would be able to guess the nostrils lol.
I do have to mention Flying Without Wings again because when Mark reached that high note the whole crowd applauded and believe me I have never been in such a noisy crowd all tour and for everyone to show their appreciation of his talent must have really made his year (Liverpool supporter but hey we all have our flaws). Any way the medley yet again was fantastic and yes Mark DID thrust to that’s the way I like it and he was on my side when he did it – such pleasant dreams I have been having lately – wonder why.
The walkway was not there so it was fantastic to see them perform the songs they usually do at the back of the arena – especially dressed in their casuals – nice arse on Kian by the way and Nicky always looks good. Beige on Mark does nothing for me but he was looking too good for that to put me off. Tank tops – have they made a come back? If not can someone please tell Shane lol.
Any way they said their goodbyes and Mark said it was his dream to play at Liverpool but the next part of the show had been a dream of mine for a long time. We were expecting the Hopkirk & Randall suits so imagine our surprise when they came out in Kilts. Poor Hilda – she nearly had to pick me up off the floor at the sight of Marks legs being out but by heck they looked good enough to rub and boy do I wanna do the rubbing lol.
By this time our little Westettes were getting very tired so we picked them up and sort of danced with them in our seats and yes they did get waves from Kian & Shane and no it wasn’t the sort of just put your hand up wave but definite eye contact waves so good on ya lads. Any way me & Hilda swooned like love struck teenagers through the closing set probably cause Kian & Shane kept edging their kilts higher & Nicky revealed not only was he not wearing anything underneath but also that he had the wrong kilt on and was in fear of losing it – now that would have been a picture!!!!
We had sent in a couple of texts but did they do the usual thing – no – the lads picked someone from the crowd with an irish flag. Strange but I said to Hilda I would leave mine in the car as it would have got in the way so bad move on my part. Any way they finished with Mandy – fireworks going off etc and we headed for the exit. It had been a wonderful concert in the VIP section and to round it off Hilda got to keep the VIP badge (cough & wink).
We headed back to Hilda’s and after a couple of fags & a cup of coffee this dame retired to bed to be woken at 5 to head home. It really was a fantastic time, great to see Hilda & to have cuddles with two little princesses and of course to see Marks legs.
Sped down the motorway in the early hours and yes made it to work by 8 to be told by boss who had insisted I was on time that he had been joking & I could have had the morning off – never mind I will remember that next year.
