DAME BEX IN SLIGO (ON SLIGO OR AROUND SLIGO!!!)
Thursday 16th September
(Day 1)
I know the regulars of this site will be dying to read this – YES!!!! Bex & Hilda went to Sligo – before you lot start thinking non stop drinking, flirting and partying the answer is NO – just good old honest research into the town where the 3 sexy gods live.
Right- here goes. Got up on the Thursday morning to start packing (Hilda had packed 3 times, unpacked and packed again) Dragged my suitcase downstairs and proceeded to run up and down filling it with clothes (a girl can never have too many outfits – or NOT!!)
Dropped in at local Post Office to get some Euro’s and the exchange rate was crap….
Had regular updates about how far Hilda had got when it suddenly dawned on me she was in my home town – legged it to main road with my puppy in tow and waited and waited and waited.
Decided to go home as Shadow (puppy) was getting bored and had decided to lie down in middle of street for a snooze.
Several phone calls later I saw Hilda’s very bright car pull into our car
park.
We had a good giggle over what we would be getting up to and shot down town to say goodbye to my hubby. Quick kiss goodbye, hoisted bags outside and into the taxi we went. (ok I will admit it – I hate flying so we did down a nice vodka & coke before we left)
Got on motorway to find traffic was horrendous but taxi driver knew a short cut and we very quickly arrived at airport only to find out our flight was 2 hours late. Not a lot to do at airports is there? Good job it had a couple of bars!!!!
Finally we set off and although I hate flying I must admit it wasn’t too bad (cough cough)
Landed in Knock airport, grabbed our bags and made way to exit to book a car. Although we managed to get one very quickly I can honestly say I never understood one word that the bloke said to us and to be honest I don’t think our Hilda did either. We just nodded took keys and headed for car.
I must say I have never giggled so much driving along but I think it was a)
the company b) the fact we heading to Sligo and c) the fact we had booked when
the lads were NOT at home. Lol
I drove like an angel on the Irish roads but decided to take a couple of
detours on the way – our Hilda bless her told me that in fact Sligo was the
opposite direction but she soon forgot about that when I pulled up outside the
“Filan” residence.

Next came the senior “Egan” residence
and finally along popped the
“Feehily’s” home.
After our diversion we arrived at B&B to be greeted by sweet lady looking horrified – we soon found out why – me & our Hilda had got ourselves a double room – not twin as booked but double!!!
Dumped cases, headed out stopping at pub I visited loads last year (more on that pub later) and finally ended up in town – pubs there don’t shut until 1.30 but as it is no smoking in Ireland now we spent most our time outside. Any way we went to Abracadabra which I was told is actually Abracababra and made our way back to the B&B – that was the ENDER that night – (lol do ya get it Hilda)
