Sligo, Westlife's home town (3 out of 4 aint bad!) All the official tourist guide info is housed within this section under 'Landmarks' This page, on the other hand is a 'Dames whistle-stop tour of County Sligo' - It's our photo album, so feel free to sit yourself down and buckle up for the 'alternative fan experience' (please forgive us lads - for a spit spot of stalking, but it was in the sites best interest!)

COUNTY SLIGO
Coastline: Sligo’s coastline consists of low-lying cliffs and numerous
beaches such as Strandhill, Streedagh, Mullaghmore, Inniscrone and Rosses Point.
Scenic attractions include Lough Gill, near Sligo town and Lough Arrow.
Streedagh in particular offers a fantastic strand with accessible caves. Lough Gill: 5 miles long and 2 miles wide, surrounded on three sides by
wooded mountain slopes, and connected to Sligo town by a 2 mile stretch of
river. In the lake itself the most prominent islands are the beautifully wooded
Cottage Island, with the ruins of an ancient Church, the larger Church Island
also with the remains of a Church, and the tiny island of Innisfree. Drumcliffe bay lies north of Rosses Point, an area of fine
sandy beaches. Nearby are the Dartry Mountains, where the most prominent summits
are Truskmore (2113 feet), Benbulben (1730 feet) and King's Mountain (1527
feet).
OUTLYING AREAS
Rivers and Lakes: Leitrim is bisected by Lough Allen, the first lake on the
Shannon. Lough Gill and Glencar Waterfall are on the border with Sligo. Lough
Melvin is located in the north of the county.Leitrim is one of Ireland's most sparsely populated and hence most unspoilt
counties. Dominated by water whether in the form of the might River Shannon, the
stunning Lough Allen or the spectacular Glencar Waterfall that inspired
Ireland's greatest poet, Leitrim's quiet waterways and unmarred beauty will
delight the most jaded of visitors. One of the last bastions of solitude Leitrim
is a place to get away from it all. Through the maze of waterways and lakes it
is possible to lose yourself in the rivers of the county or in the forests and
mountains that provide such wonderful scenery
