HAIR BEAR BUNCH
Hi ! Shane at the helm, absolutely NO IDEA why Ive been handed this section... I've had the same hairstyle for almost all of my career and the most drastic 'hair' issue I ever had was waxing my chest......But just for the 'old dames' I've researched this subject avidly - I may need knowledge one day!
SHANE'S HAIR CARE
The most likely to have a hairy back: This baby ape shaves two-three times a day.

SHANE QUOTES How often do you wash your hair? Do you get nasal hairs or ear hairs? If you had to have one of your other band mates'
hairdos, which one would you choose?

HAIR QUOTES
"I hate it when people get the wrong idea about me. There was a picture of me in one magazine and the caption said, 'Kian insists on making sure his hair is perfect before he leaves the house every morning'. It's not true. I've also heard that I refuse to wear make-up in case it clogs up my pores, but I'm wearing it today! I'm not vain, but I do want to look good if I'm doing a photo shoot. The press makes me out to be big-headed, but that's not me at all." - Kian
Nicky -Are you a natural blonde? -Big Hit Australia, September 1999
Nicky: Yeah. I do have bleach in my hair, but I'm the only natural blonde in the
band
Have you ever had your legs waxed? - L+K magazine, May 1999
Bryan: No, but I did shave them once when I was at school! I was 15 and
got the part of an old lady in a play, with big balloons up my top! My friends
really took the Mickey!
How upset would Kian be if he had no hairdryer or styling products to do
his hair? - Smash Hits mag, May 1999
Shane: He'd be gutted.
Bryan: He'd cry
Mark: He wouldn't leave the house.
Nicky: And if he did he would wear a hat. It'd be like the end of the world!
Shane: I can't even imagine what he'd be like.
Bryan: He'd get in a really bad mood and not talk to anyone. He wouldn't be able
to function properly!
Finally, which of you is most likely to do a Shane Lynch and get a bizarre
haircut?
Shane: (laughing) It's inevitable, isn't it? There's always someone in every
band who goes a bit 'funky'!
Bryan: I reckon it'll be Nicky.
Nicky: I don't mind. Shane's cool! And he's one of the nicest people you could
ever meet.
Kian: Yeah, everybody knows what he looks like and that's what fame's all about,
isn't it?
TECHNICAL GUIDE
Trichology is the study of hair and it’s diseases. The main structures of the hair are below the surface of the skin. They are:
Follicle
Bulb
Papilla
Arrector pili muscle
And the sebaceous gland.
Hair is made up of the hard protein called Keratin, which is produced from the hair follicle. There are three types of Hair:
Lanugo- Hair you have when you are born.
Velus- Soft downy hair that is pale, it is found on your cheeks and other areas.
Terminal- Coarse hair generally thick and dark.
There are three stages of hair growth:
Anagen- This stage is the growth of the new hair, were the new Keratin cells are turned into a new hair.
Catagen- Is the falling out stage were the hair goes up the follicle and begins to detach itself from the papilla.
Telogen- This is the final stage of hair growth, the hair falls out and the growth begins again. The Papilla moves down and begins the Anagen all over again.
Certain things can affect the hair and its growth:
Weather
Treatment
Age
Puberty
Pregnacy
Menopause
Stress
Anything could trigger hair growth the most prominent is hormone changes, it takes on average 20 years for hair to actually give up on growing, with constant waxing. Permanent removal sometimes takes several passes at it before it will go. If a hormone changes occur such as pregnancy the hair could start growing again.
WAXING
Depending on the manufactories instructions of application on the wax it is best to apply it in a figure eight pattern, to get the hair tangled up in each other so it is easier to pull off. Always pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth as much as possible. If the hair is all over the place do it in small bits.As Shane reminds his fellow men that a 'back, sack and crack' wax is definitely agony.........as he speaks from experience!
REMOVAL
Methods of hair removal are:
Tweezing
Depilatory creams
Shaving
Waxing
Sugaring
Threading
Laser
There are two categories of hair removal.
Epilation- To pull the hair out by the root, Tweezing, waxing, sugaring laser.
Depilation- To cut off the hair at the skin, Depilatory creams, Shaving, threading.
